Malitaba Sarah Moleleki

Malitaba Sarah Moleleki was born on 10 June 1960 at Phuthaditjhaba under the boundaries of Maluti A Phofung Local Municipality. She obtained her National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and a certificate in Communities and Development with the Department of Education Training Board for Local Government Bodies in 1988.

The following year she obtained her Housing Policy Development and Management Programme at the University of Witwatersrand.In 2000 she underwent training on the ANC’s History and Political Theory at the ANC Political School.

Moleleki went on to study Infrastructure Planning and Partnership for Local Economic Development at Harward University and in the same year she successfully completed the National Diploma in Resource Management at Department of Education (FET) in 2003. In 2008 she obtained a qualification in Executive Leadership Municipal Development Programme at the University of Pretoria.

In 1990 to 2003 she was a member of NEHAWU at Qwaqwa branch and during 2001 to 2003 she was elected the deputy chairperson. In 1990 to 1991 she was elected as an additional member of the ANC Phuthaditjhaba branch. The following year she became the deputy secretary of the same branch. In 1995 to date she was elected as the chairperson of the Phuthaditjha ANC branch. She subsequently became the Regional Executive Committee Member and also the Regional Working Committee member of Qwaqwa/Kestel Region.

In 2000 to 2011 she was elected the Regional Working Committee member of Thabo Mofutsanyana Region. From 2011 to date Moleleki remains a Provincial Executive Committee member of the ANC Women League of the Free State Province. In 2013 she was elected into the ANC Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) of the ANC in the Free State Province. She also serves in the Provincial Working Committee of the ANC.

She started working as an educator in 1983 at Lephoi School in Bethulie. In 1985 to 2003 she was a personal secretary at Department of Education Qwaqwa. She also worked as a Chief Library Assistant at Boitjhorisong Inservice Training. She was elected as a Mayor of Phuthaditjhaba (TLC) in 1997 until 2000.

During 2003 and 2010 Moleleki was a member of the Mayoral Committee of Thabo Mofutsanyana District municipality.She also served as the Chief Whip of Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality. In November 2012 she was appointed as the Executive Mayor of Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality.
